Guidelines for Implementation of Wind Resource Assessment in Uncovered/ New Areas under NCEF Scheme and subsequent development

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched a Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) Programme through the Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET), in association with State Nodal Agencies (SNA). The scheme objectives is as follows\nTo carry out wind resource assessment in the uncovered/ new areas by installing up to 500 stations with 100 m tall met-towers across the country.\nTo collect site specific wind data for a period of approximately 24-36 months.\nTo analyze the collected wind data and estimate the wind power potential at 100 m level. \nTo prepare a wind resource map showing the wind power potential and generate Micro level wind atlas at 100 m height. \nTo enable rapid exploitation of the wind power potential by developing wind power projects.\nThis scheme will be operational up to two years from the date of issue of first sanction order by CWET which will be extended if required. Under this scheme, 40% of the total project cost will be provided from National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) as reimbursement through C -WET and balance 60% of the total project cost shall be borne together by the concerned SNA of State Government and private developer(s) undertaking the wind resource assessment.\nC-WET will release funds in two instalments to SNA’s and private developers in accordance with their share; a) After installation & commissioning of wind monitoring station, C-WET shall reimburse the 50% of the NCEF grant share of 40%, upon confirmation to that effect provided by concerned SNA, b) After completion of the minimum one year continuous data collection and completion of project in all aspects including completion of verification by C-WET, the balance 50% of the NCEF contribution will be released to CWET for further release to the SNA and private developer in accordance with their contribution
