This scheme is to promote the energy conservation measures in the street lighting systems and water pumping systems. Around four percent of the energy consumption in the state is through the state water supply and two percent of energy consumption is through street lighting systems. This scheme says that around 30 percent of energy conservation is possible in both the categories. Hence it is needed to promote energy conservation program in these areas. Through this scheme, municipal corporation/municipal council can avail for a subsidy of Rs 25 Lakh for implementation of energy conservation measures. And Maharashtra Jeevan Pradikaran (MJP) can avail for a subsidy of Rs 5 Lakh for implementation of energy conservation measures.
