Nodal Agency : Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) is the nodal agency for the implementation of the NRSE Policy on behalf of the Govt. of Punjab.
 
Summary
To maximise and improve the share of new and renewable sources of energy to 10% of the total installed power capacity in the state by 2022, Punjab amended its RE policy in 2012. Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) is the nodal agency for the implementation of the NRSE Policy on behalf of the Govt. of Punjab. Projects shall be allocated through competitive bidding by PEDA. The project developers shall sell all the energy generated from the projects to PSPCL/Licensee at the tariff arrived after competitive bidding. Projects under REC mechanism may be allocated through competitive bidding based on the percentage share of REC price. The NRSE projects shall be provided tariff for sale of power as per PSERC RE tariff orders. No parallel operation charges shall be levied on NRSE projects. The banking facility for the power generated shall be allowed for a period of one year. The Punjab State Power Company Ltd /LICENSEE/PSTCL will undertake to transmit/wheel the surplus power through its grid, and make it available to the producer for captive use in the same company units located in the State at a uniform wheeling charge of 2% of the energy fed to the grid. The NRSE Project developer as per entitlement under the policy will also be allowed inter/intra state open access in accordance with the open access regulations. Punjab Government assures fiscal assistance in the form of notional lease amount on Irrigation canal, land will be given. 100% exemption of electricity duty, octroi,VAT , registration and stamp duty charges for land acquiring, exemption of NOC for solar PV projects from Pollution Control Board etc are some of the incentives provided under this policy.
