Policy Guidelines for the Development of Small Hydro Power Projects

To create conditions conducive for proactive involvement of private investor in development of small hydro power and to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth in the state the guidelines for the development of small hydro power project was introduced. Land required for the development of the project would be acquired by the State Government and transferred to the developer at the acquisition cost and no acquisition fee and stamp duty registration fee shall be charged. Government land would also be available to developers for lease at Rs 100 per acre for 30 years with a provision of renewal. No permission is required for construction of transmission line and linking works with the substation. Power generated from small hydro source shall be exempted from electricity duty.
