National Solar Mission envisages installation of around 10 GW utility scale solar power projects in Phase-II. Twelfth five year plan (2012-17) also targets capacity addition of 10 GW of grid connected solar power in India. It is envisaged that out of this 10 GW target, 4 GW would be developed under central scheme and 6 GW under various State specific schemes. Thrust areas for Phase-II are as follows: 1.Scaling up Grid connected Projects -Capacity addition target of 9 GW under Phase-II 2.Rooftop PV Programme -1000 MW ( Both for Grid connected and Off-grid) 3. Solar Cities -15 (In addition to existing target of 60 cities) 4. Energy Access -20,000 (Villages/hamlets/basti/padas) 5. Off-Grid Lighting Systems -10 lakhs 6.Solar Cities - 15 (In addition to existing target of 60 cities) 7.Solar Water pumps - 25,000 Systems 8.Telecom Towers - 25,000 Systems 9. Solar Water Heating Systems -8 Million Sq.m of Collector area 10. Solar Cooker & Steam Generating Systems - 50,000 Systems 11. Industrial Process heat application - 400,250 Sq.m each on an average 12. Manufacturing - 4/5 GW Capacity 13. Solar Monitoring and Assessment - 60 Monitoring Stations 14.Human Resource Development - 1 Lakh trained & Specialized personnel 15. Solar Parks (250 MW capacity and Land area of 600 hectare) - Not Defined 16.Hybrid Systems -Not defined Implementation Model: 1. Bundling Scheme 2.Generation Based Incentive (GBI) Scheme 3.Viability Gap Funding Scheme The JNNSM Phase-II document is in the draft stage and awaiting the Cabinet's approval.
